Brian Henley
MANAGING PARTNER
Brian’s career spans two decades of technology entrepreneurship and investing. After beginning his career with IBM in sales and corporate development, he has gone on to found and build a number of internet and technology companies and investment partnerships.
Prior to founding Recurring Capital, he was EVP of Corporate Development and M&A for Upland Software (NASDAQ:UPLD) which assembled a family of SaaS applications in the enterprise work management space. While at Upland he completed multiple acquisitions and was a key member of the IPO team. It was in this role that he experienced firsthand the cash flow capacity of established SaaS companies with predictable recurring revenue and met numerous SaaS CEO’s looking for straightforward growth capital.
Notable investments/exits include: Upland Software (IPO), Magnitude Software (Audax Group), DataRank (Simply Measured), URHere (Nokia FH:NOK1V), GlobalSpec (IHS Inc. NYSE: IHS), Trade Up Commerce (Callaway Golf NYSE:ELY), InterZine (Times Mirror Magazines).
Brian received a BS in Industrial Engineering from The University of Arkansas and a MBA from Harvard Business School. He served as the Chairman of the University of Arkansas GSIE/RED Campaign Arkansas Steering Committee and is the former Founder and Chairman of Celebrate Publishing Group, a specialty publisher in Bentonville, AR. He enjoys outdoor excursions including snowboarding, golf and fly fishing; traveling with his wife Becky; and hanging out with his three adult sons: Cameron, J.W. and Preston.
Chico Korth
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Chico manages business development and investor relations for Recurring Capital. Prior to joining Recurring Capital, Chico led business development for Miura Global, a global investment firm based in New York City. Prior to Miura, he was Chief Operating Officer of Rogge Capital Management, in Austin, Texas, where he worked with Brian.
Before Rogge Capital Management, Chico was a Managing Director of Institutional Sales and Trading for Deutsche Bank in both San Francisco and in New York City. Prior to Deutsche Bank, he was a Vice President for JPMorgan. Chico started his career in the financial services industry with Brown Brothers Harriman.
He received a BA in History from the University of Texas at Austin and a MBA from Northwestern University.
Bradley McBride
MANAGING DIRECTOR
Bradley has 10+ years of experience as a private investor, with transaction experience ranging across multiple asset classes, stages and industries. Prior to joining Recurring Capital, Bradley managed Dozier Capital Partners, the single-family office of Nicholas Dozier, Founder of Atlas Technology Group. DCP focused on growth equity and debt investing in enterprise software and tech-enabled services companies.
Before Dozier Capital, he served as Vice President at Sampa Partners, a technology-focused private equity group in Austin, TX. From 2007-2012, Bradley served as Associate/Principal at Hersh Family Investments, where he helped invest the personal capital of Kenneth A. Hersh, Founder of NGP Energy Capital Management. He started his career in Investment Banking as an analyst in the M&A advisory group at Southwest Securities in Dallas, TX.
He received a BBA in Finance & Accounting from TCU and is a CFA charterholder.
MATT STEWART
MANAGING DIRECTOR & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Matt brings 20+ years of finance and operations experience to Recurring Capital.
Most recently, Matt served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of WM Capital Partners, an investment manager of distressed loans and other downside-protected strategies. Previously, Matt was President of ALG Fund, a family office investment fund, where he was responsible for investments and operations. Prior to ALG Fund, Matt was Chief Strategic Officer of the long/short equity fund Plural Investments, where he led the build-out of teams, trading systems and firm-wide policies and processes. Matt began his professional career in investment banking at Bank of America, where he worked in the Financial Institutions Group and later in the Convertible Capital Markets group.
Matt received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Brown University.
TREVOR COOK
VICE PRESIDENT
Trevor has experience in venture capital, institutional equity research, and investment banking across a variety of industries. Most recently, he was head of due diligence at MicroVentures, a leading equity crowdfunding platform, where he was responsible for conducting due diligence on early stage investment opportunities across a number of technology and technology-enabled verticals.
Before joining MicroVentures, Trevor was an Equity Research Associate at Cowen & Co. where he performed industry-level and company-specific fundamental research on managed care and health care services companies. Trevor started his career in investment banking where he provided strategic advisory and transaction execution, most recently at Cain Brothers, a New York-based health care focused boutique investment bank.
Trevor received a BBA in Economics from Texas Tech University. He is a CFA charterholder.
MATT SMITH
VICE PRESIDENT
Matt leads portfolio management for Recurring Capital and brings 10+ years of operational experience growing, scaling and exiting early-stage software companies. Most recently, Matt served as Chief Financial Officer of GoodUnited, a SaaS company providing social fundraising solutions to nonprofits.
Prior to GoodUnited, Matt served as Chief Financial Officer of AssureSign, a leading provider of electronic signature software and a Recurring Capital portfolio company, ultimately guiding the company to a successful strategic exit. Matt began his career at Entrada Health, a mobile health documentation and productivity platform for healthcare providers, subsequently acquired by NextGen Healthcare (NASDAQ:NXGN).
Matt received a BBA in Finance from Auburn University and a MBA from Belmont University.
ERIC EFFINGER
ASSOCIATE
Eric’s professional experience covers transaction accounting, capital markets, and technology investment banking. Most recently, Eric was an analyst with a SaaS-focused buyside investment bank and advisory firm, District Capital Partners. At DCP, he advised financial sponsors and strategic investors on acquisition strategy and execution. Prior to his role at DCP, Eric was an Associate in PwC's Deals practice providing capital markets and accounting advisory solutions to large multinational corporations and private equity investors undergoing acquisitions, divestitures, and other liquidity events.
Eric has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. Eric is a licensed CPA in the state of Texas.
CELISSE COBOS
ANALYST
Celisse has experience in investment management across a variety of sectors within private equity, venture, and private debt. Before joining Recurring Capital, she was responsible for analyzing private fund investments and allocating capital for Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS), a statewide retirement system with over $30 billion of assets under management. Prior to TMRS, Celisse spent her early career as an Accountant for the University of Texas at Austin and an Alternative Investment Specialist for Texas County & District Retirement System.
Celisse received a BBA in Finance from St. Edward’s University and is working towards becoming a CFA Charterholder.
MICHELLE CHAIKEN
CONTROLLER
Michelle brings 15+ years experience in financial oversight, operations and creating systems and processes. Most recently, Michelle served as CFO and co-owner of the business Remodel Boutique, working with investors on residential real estate projects in Austin. Prior to real estate, Michelle has worked with international corporations and local nonprofits including Explore Austin and Texas HERO to provide finance, accounting and operational supervision.
Michelle received a BBA in Finance from The University of Texas at Austin.
